De Beers Group announced that it had provisionally sold $455 million dollars in rough diamonds in its 9th sales cycle of 2017. The figure represents a total of its global Sightholder sales as well as the value of its auction sales during the period and is is 4.4 percent below the $476 million in actual sales in the 9th cycle of 2016.
De Beers also said that its actual sales for the eighth sales cycle of this year now stand at $376 million.
Group CEO Bruce Cleaver said, “Following a seasonally quieter period for rough diamond sales, Cycle 9 saw an uptick in demand from our customers as retail orders increase ahead of the Christmas season.”
