Activities are very important for a child’s mental and physical growth. Nowadays, children’s have the freedom to hang around with gadgets like Mobile phones, tabs, and laptops. These may be entertaining but are not very helpful rather harmful for the growing ones.
Children in growing age are hyper active, impulsive and also very curious, they want to learn and explore new things they see around them. Providing a right kind of learning atmosphere where children indulge into creative and interesting activitiesis the duty of the educators. They only learn when they are active so children centric activities are important to conduct. When children are engaged physically and mentally, that’s when learning happens. When they see, touch, feel, share and experience things, then only they can retain them in their memory for life.
School vacations are a boring period for the children and it locksthem within the walls of the house. Therefore, during their vacation time, we can engage them with several types of activities which will help them to nurture in a better way.

- Marble painting on paper:
This is a very interesting activity, and most of the children enjoy it. For this one, you will need a white paper, marbles and very importantly watercolors to dip the marbles for coloring.This will surely make them interested in free time activities.
- Jigsaw puzzle solving:
This is also an admirable activity for children. Most of us have played this game in our childhood days. So this can also stand as a helpful home activity during the holidays. This also helps in improving the concentration power.

Biography writing also can be a school activity, but we can follow this at home too to engage our children. It helps them in knowing more about the people who do well for the humankind.Writing biographies also helps childreninenhancing their writing skills.
- A room cleaning race:
Get yourself a timer, sit back and ask the children to clean up their messy bedroom and place every single piece in their proper position. After the whole activity have a reward ready to encourage their hard labor.

Children always expect activitieswhich are interesting, easy to play, and fun loving.There are so many topics and issues around us in the society which students should be made aware of, which is not taught in the text books, there are so many social issues which students should know as citizens of the country and there are so many life skills which children should learn for performing better in academics as well which are useful in their personal life and growth. All the basic skills, life skills, awareness topics, informative topics which are not taught in regular syllabus should be taught through co -curricular activities. It is the duty of the school to shape up the personality of the students as they grow and provide right kind of skills and moral values to make them good citizens of the country.
Through special assemblies, competitions, celebrations, annual day and other special activities conducted either in classroom or in school ground, many concepts can be covered such as birthdays of famous personalities and the life lessons which can be learnt from them, important national and international festivals, world observance days which raises crucial social issues and environmental awareness.The activities in school should be designed in such a way that these important topics are highlighted. Also,activitiesbased on covering life skills such as building resilience, empathy, managing emotions etc should be covered through workshops.

- Make sentences competition:
Making sentences is a primary school activity which is always not interesting for being a part of studies. So, if we arrange a make sentences competition with special reward, children may find this study portion more interesting than the earlier.
- Quiz competition:
Divide the children into three or four groups as per number and arrange a quiz competition to provide a little refreshment to the studies. It is helpful in teaching cooperation among the classmates as well in the group mates.
