Difference between Home tutor and Tuitions classes

Difference-between-Home-tutor-and-Tuitions-classes

With the changing world today and differences in the education system, often children choose to go for some kind of tuition after school hours. These can either be home tutoring, coaching classes, or tuitions. But it can be hard to choose which of these options is best for your child.

  1. Subjects: In tuition or coaching classes either you have to choose to go for different classes for different subjects or go to classes that offer all subjects. Here you might not have the chance to choose which subjects. Whereas, say for example if you hire a private tutor in Mumbai, you can ask which subjects will be included and hire accordingly.

  1. Personalized attention: Coaching classes or tuition classes have a lot of students. This makes it impossible for the teachers to give personal attention to your kids. Whereas in the case of home tutors, all the attention is given to your child.

  1. Competition: In coaching or tuition classes, there is competition amongst students when it comes to marks. However, this can work both ways. A child who has hired a home tutor in Mumbai might feel more comfortable at home because of the lack of competition. At the same time, after a certain level, it becomes important for students to be aware of the competition around them.

  1. Traveling: One of the main differences between both types is traveling. In a coaching center or tuition classes, you have to travel and reach. This can actually take a lot of time, especially in metro cities. Whereas in the case of home tutors, teachers come to your house and are more convenient.

  1. Group v/s individual: Naturally when you go to coaching classes or tuitions you will have to study in a group. In the case of home tutoring, you have to do it by yourself. This can depend on personal choice because some students get demotivated alone and being in a group gives them incentive whereas others get distracted by groups and prefer individual studying.

  1. Flexibility: Another one of the major differences is that coaching classes cannot be flexible as per your timings. They have fixed timing and a fixed teaching pattern that they follow according to the syllabus. In the case of a home tutoring option, the timings and the way of going by the syllabus is personalized according to the student requirements.

Hence, both forms of tutoring are different. There are advantages and disadvantages to both. It does boil down to the student to decide what sort of education they are comfortable with. It is also important to sit in a demo class for both to see if the teaching style suits the student.

However, before choosing any option, apart from sitting in the demo classes it also becomes important to check the success rate, suitability of timings, affordability of the parents, and most important the requirements of the students.
